Training: Photoshop Beginner’s Course

Client: SV Flow

On Tuesday I gave a training to about twenty five enthusiast students that were very eager to learn about Adobe Photoshop. During the training we touched upon different topics related to the creation, design and publishing of posters and flyers with Photoshop. Below I will briefly recap on what I’ve told in this training and I will provide you with some interesting links to find out more about e.g. getting free quality and copyright-free images.

Most important tools

During the training I explained about the most important tools in Photoshop. These include: Move tool, Lasso tool, Magic wand tool, Eyedropper tool, Spot healing brush tool, Brush tool, Eraser tool, Paint bucket tool, Type tool and Rectangle tool. Furthermore we talked about the History, Properties, Info, Paragraph and Character window. Next to that we talked about inserting/placing graphic objects (e.g. pictures, logo’s, etc.) and typeface.

Top Ten tips for Photoshop

Specifically, I recommend some extra resources for copyright-free images of high quality. A personal favourite is Unsplash.com. All images are under Creative Commons zero licence, you can read about what this means on this page. Another interesting website is Death to the Stock photo, which delivers a ‘fresh pack of stock photos’ to your inbox every month. You are required to give your e-mail address to use this service.

Documents

All documents that we used during the training can be found on this page and this page. Please use these documents for your own reference only. The document with the different fonts, reveals differences between serif and sans serif fonts. If you want to know more about typography, please visit the website of Web Designer Depot. They have a very illustrative explanation of these two types of fonts.

Any remaining questions?

Would you have any remaining questions after this training, please do not hesitate to contact the trainer on his e-mail address. I also would like to invite you to take a look at my website www.jointodaystalent.nl for more training courses.
